5 secrets to detangling hair

We’ve all been there—that moment when you step out of the shower and desperately try to detangle your hair! The more you try, the more painful it is… and the less you look forward to it. The good news is that there are some simple (actually very simple) solutions that will make detangling your hair a breeze. Here they are!

Why does hair get tangled?

There are lots of reasons why hair can get tangled. It might be because of:

  • Your hair’s texture (curly hair, for example, is more likely to get tangled)
  • Your hair’s length (a child’s long and fine hair, for example, will more easily get tangled)
  • How often you brush your hair
  • Your hair’s level of moisture and nutrition (if you have dry or ultra-dry hair)
  • Using products that are not suited to your hair, which can dry it out and make it difficult to style
  • Damaged hair
  • The climate and weather, especially humidity and wind
  • Lifestyle habits (sleeping with wet hair, never tying hair up and never styling hair)

Tip No. 1: Hydrate your hair

Because dry hair is more prone to tangling, make sure you choose hydrating haircare products such as  NOURISHMENT. Doing so will provide just the right amount of hydration to your hair fibre, making hair softer, smoother and easier to style.

Tip No. 2: Detangle your hair morning and night

It makes perfect sense: the more often you detangle your hair, the easier it will be to detangle! After all, if you just recently detangled it, your hair has probably hardly had a chance to get tangled again!

A good technique to adopt at night is detangling your hair and then braiding it before you go to bed to prevent friction from wreaking havoc. Because it helps prevent hair from tangling, this technique will make your morning hair-styling routine much easier. We also recommend you invest in a silk pillowcase, which helps keep hair hydrated and minimizes tangling.

Tip No. 3: Use a detangling haircare product

Detangling products such as the famous Softness Express Detangling Milk will make styling much easier. The secret is the emollient Oat Milk and the nourishing Rosemary and Calendula Oils, which give hair the softness and suppleness it needs to facilitate detangling.

Tip No. 4: Start at the bottom and work your way to the top

For pain-free detangling, start at the bottom of your hair and slowly work your way to the top.

Tip No. 5: Choose the right tool

Always use a wide-tooth comb rather than a brush. Combing your hair will make the detangling process much easier—and prevent your hair from breaking!
